OIL CLASSES

HOOKED ON OILS—OIL PAINTING FOR BEGINNERS: Whether you’re new to oil painting, or just getting back into it after many years, this is the class for you! This oil painting class starts with the basics—types of brushes and their use and care, differences in transparent and opaque paints and the techniques that go along with those paint properties, use of color, composition, values, edges etc. This class is geared to help you find teachers that will fit your painting style and hasten the time it takes to learn this wonderful medium. All supplies are included—brushes, paints, even the paper towels! And, if you find yourself “Hooked on Oils”, you’ll have the supplies and skills necessary to enjoy painting for years to come! This class is taught by Becky Whitney. Four sessions are offered: Jan 4,11,18,25 or Feb 1,8,15,22 or Mar 2,9,16,23 or April 6,13,20,27. Time 6:00-8:00 p.m.. Cost is $100.

“GRADUATES” OILS: This oil painting class is for those having done the beginner’s course “Hooked on Oils”. COLOR THEORY FOR OIL PAINTERS: Mixing color can be one of the biggest struggles of oil painting. What colors to include on my palette? How do I avoid making “mud”? How can I know what to mix to get the color I want every time? Yellow and Blue don’t necessarily make green! This is a confusing subject, but can be made simple, allowing you to mix the right color every time. This class will help to answer your questions about color and color mixing and create “cheat sheets” that you will rely on for the rest of your painting life. Date: March 8,9,10. Time is 10-4:00.
